Drills

Questions you cannot memorise. Only learn.

23 drills across the whole map — naming notes, spotting intervals, x-raying chords, walking CAGED forms, painting scales, reading the staff. Every question generated fresh, every answer remembered.

The Read the Staff drill in Fretbound: a note written on a treble staff, answered by tapping its place on the fretboard

Read the Staff, live in the app: a written note, a real neck, and nothing between them. Some drills ask with words, some with dots on the board, some with notation, some with sound — because the neck has to answer to all of them.

Nothing is dealt from a deck. Every question is generated on the spot, so the only thing you can memorise is the fretboard itself.

A Fretbound practice block in progress, part of the endless curated playlist

Scheduled, not shuffled

Every answer grades a specific fact — the F on the D string, the third inside a G grip — and a spaced-repetition model tracks each one separately, bringing it back right before you would forget it.

Press play and the playlist deals blocks aimed where your work is due. Or pick any drill, pin it to a stretch of the neck, and grind the zone that bothers you. Free covers 10 questions a day; Pro removes the cap.

All of it lives in the app.
